Broadcast Tape Transfer Services
Convert Broadcast Tapes to Digital
Broadcast tapes are a variety of video tapes that are considered “broadcast” or professional quality and are generally used for television production or motion pictures. Broadcast tapes typically have superior video and sound quality to that of a consumer tape. There are a variety of broadcast tapes we can transfer to DVD and/or digital file.
The best time to convert your broadcast tapes to DVD or digital format was yesterday. Betacam, 3/4 U-Matic, DVCAM and other magnetic broadcast tapes are extremely sensitive and have a very limited lifespan. Videotapes break easily and even when stored properly, degradation can be seen in as little as 5 years.
Exposure to sunlight, dust and moisture also contribute to loss of video tape quality. Even finding a working VCR to play your broadcast videos can be next to impossible these days. Don’t let your precious moments fade away any longer. Let us expertly transfer your broadcast tape collection to DVD or Digital Files.

Convert Tapes to DVD or Digital ? & Output Options
We offer many video conversion options in order to best suit your needs. Broadcast tapes can be transferred to DVDs, digital files, or both. DVDs are very convenient for viewing your captured footage on a television or computer. However the video files can only be taken off the discs using specialized software. This makes editing, emailing and uploading to the internet difficult. They also require you to have a DVD player.
Converting your broadcast tapes to digital files will give you much more flexibility. Digital files can be stored on a flash drive, hard drive, device or cloud and can be edited, emailed, copied, uploaded and more. You can even make you’re own DVDs. As a standard, we transfer broadcast tapes to H.264 MOV or MP4 files. Upon request we can also convert your video files to MPEG-2, AVI or Apple ProRes.
Broadcast tape to digital transfer projects require a USB drive or external hard-drive to save your video files to, which you can either purchase from us or provide your own along with your tapes.

"I highly recommend Smooth Photo Scanning for their expertise and attentive service. They recently converted some of my aging and deteriorating VHS tapes to DVD. Now the images of my children growing up that were stored on those tapes are properly preserved for both my children's families. Next job I'll give them will be to convert my parent's old 8mm movies." - Arnold V.
"I have had several VHS tapes of family events that we could no longer watch because as technology changed we also moved on to other formats. I surprised my wife with a birthday present of several tapes that Smooth Photo Scanning converted to digital files. My wife was thrilled. We began watching these events and thoroughly enjoyed them with both laughter and tears. We even rounded up more for a second file conversion." - David C.
